While I was drawing this strip, my Wacom tablet went on the fritz. O.o I was able to get it to work after uninstalling and reinstalling the tablet driver, but oh, my lord was I worried. I have had this tablet for 12 years (!) so it wouldn't really be a surprise to me if it died, but it would be annoying as all get out because I just started this new webcomic and everything. I have been wanting to write this comic for a few years now and finally got up the nerve to start drawing and posting strips. I was prepared to start drawing the comic by hand if I had to (I had considered doing that while I was deciding what format I wanted to use) but I really, really didn't want to. I wanted my Wacom working.

Like I said, I eventually got it to work, but I was nervous that I might kill my entire computer what with my messing around under the hood and everything. When it comes to computer repair and maintenance I am like a Viking doing heart surgery. My somewhat hack-and-slash methods don't really jive with work that requires delicacy and finesse.

Oh well. Yay for a working Wacom and another comic strip.

Deal Breaker

Just to set the record straight, this strip is not a commentary on my opinions of Pokémon. It's a commentary on Jaak's opinions of Pokémon. I LOVE Pokémon. When I got Pokémon Diamond for the Nintendo DS several years ago, I was useless for two weeks while I proceeded to catch every single pokémon in that game and do all the side quests and mini-games and beat the bosses and finish the game with flying colors etc. I had a blue pocket folder full of notes and charts and pictures and lists and internet printouts to guide me through the temple of awesomeness that is Pokémon. I like the show - I like the games - I like the concept. If I knew how to program video games better (I have only dabbled in this) I would make my own creature trading game just like Pokémon - only not as good, because nothing can be as good as Pokémon.

It's fall where I live, and that means the trees are covered in pretty colors and my mom starts talking about "soup weather" and inviting me into her kitchen for some of her incredible homemade soup. My bedroom overlooks the yard full of trees, and when I look out the huge window it feels like I'm in a tree house. But fall always makes me feel lonely. I was feeling irreconcilably somber when I drew the initial sketch for this first post. But I wasn't when I put it together. I was in a happy mood and listening to this great song that's topped the charts in France, Love Life. Enjoy the comic.
